When looking at weight and fertility, body mass and body fat play a more important role than you may think. In order to figure out the ideal weight for fertility, you need to calculate your body mass index (BMI) by putting your height and weight into a formula to get a specific number. The Department of Health and Human Services has a great calculator tool to help you with this.
Your BMI should be between 20 and 24 but if your number is above that range, don’t worry! Definitely don’t go on a crazy diet either because it can cause more stress than you need. You need to be careful and be sure you’re eating enough quantities of food and have sufficient levels of healthy fats. Cut out alcohol, caffeine, coffee, processed sugar, and trans fat to get rid of the “bad” calories. Eat veggies, lean protein, good carbs and healthy fats. This will ease your body weight to a more balanced, healthy weight without damaging your body or stress levels!
